Christmas Crunch from Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Christmas Crunch from Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

The snack you make once—and then keep “accidentally” walking past all day.

There are holiday recipes that feel precious. This is not one of them.
Christmas Crunch is the sweet-and-salty, grab-by-the-handful situation you want on the counter while the tree lights are going up, the music’s already on, and someone’s definitely sneaking tastes.

Popcorn. Pretzels. Chocolate. M&M’s. Zero stress, maximum payoff. It’s festive, it’s nostalgic, and it disappears faster than you’d like to admit.

Even better? This recipe comes straight from our new holiday book, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree—aka your official guide to cozy chaos, edible traditions, and recipes that actually get made.

Why We Love It

  • Comes together in minutes

  • Hits sweet and salty

  • Feels like Christmas in snack form

  • Perfect for gifting, grazing, or “just one more bite”

Make it for decorating the tree. Make it for wrapping gifts. Make it because you deserve a little crunch while pretending you’re done for the day. 🎄

Christmas Crunch

from Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 6–8

Ingredients

  • ½ cup popcorn kernels (about 14 cups popped)

  • 1½ cups broken pretzel pieces

  • 1 bag (10 ounces) red M&M’s

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 teaspoon neutral-flavored cooking oil

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the popcorn, pretzels, and M&M’s. Transfer the mixture onto a sheet of wax paper in a single layer.

  2. Add the chocolate chips and oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Melt on 50% power in 15–30 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until melted and smooth.

  3. Dip the back of a spoon or a fork into the melted chocolate and drizzle evenly across the popcorn mixture. Let the chocolate harden, for approximately 30 minutes.

  4. Gently break the mix into pieces and enjoy.

Pro Tip: Make a double batch and use it for a DIY Christmas tree garland—snackable décor encouraged.

This is the kind of recipe that turns into a tradition without trying.
A bowl that lives on the counter. A handful every time you walk by. A little crunch that tastes like December.
