Elevate your grilled main dishes with this classic red cabbage slaw recipe. Made with thinly sliced red cabbage, lime juice, and fresh cilantro, this slaw adds a burst of flavor and crunch to tacos, BBQ sandwiches, grilled chicken, and steak. Ingredients:  

  • Small red cabbage, cored and sliced as thinly as possible  
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste  
  • Juice of 1 lime  
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped  

Directions:  

  1. Place the cabbage in a large bowl, sprinkly the salt on top and toss to distribute. Use your hands to work the salt into the cabbage, then let it sit for 2 to 3 hours.  
  2. Once it has rested, taste to gauge the saltiness: if too salty, rinse under cold water and let drain; if just right, add the lime juice and cilantro, stir to combine, and serve.
