Elvis Presley’s Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich Recipe

Elvis Presley’s Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich Recipe

There’s something simply perfect about a peanut butter and banana sandwich. It’s easy, a little nostalgic, and just indulgent enough to feel like a treat.

This version comes from The Elvis Presley Cookbook, our September Cookbook Club pick of the month, and it’s exactly the sort of recipe we love: simple ingredients, no fuss, very good payoff.

The basic idea? Mash together peanut butter and ripe bananas, spread it on buttered bread, then grill the whole thing until golden. That’s the magic.

Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich Recipe

Makes 5 sandwiches

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 very ripe bananas
  • 10 slices buttered bread
  • Butter

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the peanut butter with the banana until creamy.
  2. Spread the mixture over 5 slices of bread. Top each with another slice.
  3. In a 12-inch skillet, melt enough butter to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the sandwiches and grill until the bread is lightly toasted. Flip and grill the other side.
  4. Transfer the sandwiches to a paper towel-lined plate, then serve.

Why We Love It

The ripe bananas make the filling soft and sweet, the peanut butter brings the salty richness, and grilling the bread in butter gives everything a crisp, golden finish.

It’s cozy. It’s unfussy. It feels equally right for breakfast, lunch, or one of those snacks that accidentally turns into dinner.
