Whistling in Tongues

Mocktails: Whistling in Tongues

GLASSWARE: ROCKS GLASS

GARNISH: KIWI SLICE

Tasting notes: tropical, bright, fruity

While many fruits partner well with kiwi, apple stands above them all.

  • Salt, for the rim
  • 1 1⁄2 oz. apple juice
  • 3⁄4 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1⁄4 cup peeled and diced kiwi
  • 1⁄2 oz. Simple Syrup (below)
  • 3⁄4 oz. fresh orange juice
  1. Wet the rim of the rocks glass and coat it with salt.
  2. Place the remaining ingredients in a blender, add 5 oz. crushed ice, and puree until smooth.
  3. Pour the drink into the rocks glass, garnish with the slice of kiwi, and enjoy.

SIMPLE SYRUP

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  1. Place the water in a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
  2. Add the sugar and stir until it has dissolved.
  3. Remove the pan from heat and let the syrup cool before using or storing in the refrigerator, where it will keep for up to 3 months.
